Do not speak of just you and me,
For pure love should not be
bound to these two bodies
or these two identities,
for our love can be
so much more than for just you and me.
Our love is strength
and gives us strength;
not based on desire
but something higher.
One that is free,
One that frees;
free from insecurity,
attachment and jealousy.
A love that moves us again
to deeply feel others’ pain,
as if the pain is our own
so they don’t bear their sorrows alone.
So let us take this love
and make it grand;
spread it to all
who walk this land!
Save your kindness
not just for me,
give it generously
to all you meet!
Mark our love in the trees,
pour it in all the seas,
throw it in the skies,
and paint it in every sunrise!
For one day I will not be by your side,
because sunset comes with each sunrise.
So when I’m not here,
know that our love is still near.
You can still see our boundless love
in the earth below and the sky above,
in the smiles of all the people we’ve met
and all those who you’ve not met yet.
For one day they may also learn of our story,
of how our mundane love found humble glory;
how we used the great love that we have for each other,
as a basis for the love that we have for all others,
a love that transcends beyond you and I,
one without “me” and “mine”,
for love is not just a feeling or expressions,
but we are this love and its manifestations.
So do not speak of just you and me,
of a restricted love so exclusionary.
Let us commit to a higher form of love,
a universal and unconditional love,
that nurtures all living under the Heavens above.
